Som Mittal is the current president of NASSCOM. An alumnus of IIT Kanpur and IIM Ahmedabad, Som Mittal has rich corporate experience in industries ranging from manufacturing through automobiles to IT. He has worked at such organizations as Larsen & Toubro, Escorts, SRF, Wipro and Compaq and now in Digital. Mittal is today an often quoted example of the achievements possible in the Indian corporate sector.
Mittal has headed Digital GlobalSoft for the last five years. Between June 1998 and July 1999, he shouldered additional responsibility as managing director of Compaq India and DIGITAL INDIA. Under Mittal’s leadership, Digital GlobalSoft has rapidly transitioned into a successful software services company attracting top-notch professionals, creating a resource pool with a vast knowledge and skill base and establishing a worldwide presence with full-fledged sales offices in the US, Europe and Asia Pacific.
In addition to his corporate responsibilities he has many important positions in state and national apex bodies. Mittal is the President of NASSCOM, National Council member & former Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Executive Council member & past President (South) - Manufacturers Association of Information Technology (MAIT). He is also a Member of the Chief Ministers Task Force (Govt. of Karnataka), Governing Council member–Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITB),Governing Council member–International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad(IIIT-H) and Founder member–Board of Education Standards.
